The brutal truth of living a life of recovery through the 12 steps and a strong fellowship is despite seeing so many amazing success stories and miracles of people overcoming their alcoholism and addictions, we also must witness so many lose the battle and end up dead, in jail, or living in an eternal downward spiral. Sometimes it can deeply affect your psyche. But we stay the course because we see that vastly improved and healed person in the mirror and the bright faces of our fellows that made it out of their personal hell.
It is the next broken person that comes through the door that renews our drive to reach out and give what was so freely given to us.
