TORTURED FREEDOM A Poem

Tortured Freedom

Torturously damned by this splendid freedom,

Reborn to a new reality of peace and serenity.

Chains broken, cast aside, mysteries of life revealed,

The path through the storms of life emerged,

Inner peace revealed yet a darkness still lingers.

No longer lost at sea.

I look out in the mist and see you there,

Still beautiful with your long flowing hair,

Only I can see inside,

The sadness of the chains dragging you down,

Why are you blind to my freedom and hell cast aside?

Is this my eternal curse?

For twenty years earlier, I selfishly led you astray.

I stand before you free,

Ever reaching out to pull you from the mist.

Why do you slap my hand away?

Am I damned to see you forever lost at sea?

My freedom is yours and offer it free.

If this is my burden to bear,

Then I will forever be the lighthouse.

Desperately waiting for a ship,

That may never reach the shore.
